Hyderabad is no longer the capital of Andhra Pradesh

After the division of the state of Andhra Pradesh into Telangana and Seemandhra (Andhra Pradesh) in 2014, Hyderabad was to be the common capital of both states. Albeit the designated capital of Telangana, Hyderabad remained the capital of Andhra Pradesh for a period of 10 years up to 2024.

As per the Andhra Pradesh reorganization Act, Hyderabad will cease to be the capital of Andhra Pradesh from 2 June, 2024.

The new capital of Andhra Pradesh for administration may be Vishakapatnam while Amravati would serve as the legislative capital.
